Our School Partners
Project Open Door's programming has been designed very particularly for teens attending public high schools in Rhode Island's urban core cities - Central Falls, Pawtucket, Providence, and Woonsocket. Additionally, as the result of a longtime relationship with the William M. Davies, Jr. Career & Technical High School, Project Open Door places an artist-in-residence at the school, which is located in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
A high school in each of the urban core cities has been identified by Project Open Door as a core partner and classes are provided either at the school or in POD's studio on RISD's campus. These after-school classes are taught by graduate students enrolled in RISD's Department Teaching + Learning in Art + Design. Project Open Door's 2017-2018 core partner schools are:
- Central Falls High School (Central Falls)
- William M. Davies, Jr., Career & Technical High School (Lincoln)
- Charles E. Shea Senior High School (Pawtucket)
- Metropolitan Regional Career & Technical Center (Providence)
- Woonsocket High School (Woonsocket)
In addition, to our those attending core partner schools, teens attending any public high school or charter high school in Rhode Island's urban cities - Central Falls, Pawtucket, Providence, and Woonsocket are eligible to apply for places in Project Open Door's advanced Portfolio sequence of classes, which take place in RISD studios on Saturday morning and which are taught by College faculty.
